Footprints 2 Africa Partnership with SGS College – The CHASE

—

1–2 minutes

Footprints 2 Africa is working in partnership with SGS College – The CHASE specialist provision in Stroud delivering structured sessions where students help prepare donated medical supplies for humanitarian shipment.
Through this programme, students with additional support needs take part in practical activities that contribute directly to Footprints 2 Africa’s international work. Students assist in sorting, counting and preparing stoma supplies that will be sent to healthcare partners across Africa.

The sessions provide opportunities for students to develop numeracy, communication, teamwork and sequencing skills while participating in meaningful, real world tasks.
Alongside the practical activities, students explore the journey humanitarian supplies take from the UK to healthcare providers overseas, gaining insight into the logistics involved in delivering aid across borders.

Footprints 2 Africa is grateful to the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Stoma Care Team for donating a training kit used during the programme, and to Flexicare UK for allowing the use of a training mannequin to support learning.

This partnership demonstrates how local educational programmes can support both student development and international humanitarian work.
