Environmental Impact
Every year, thousands of unopened ostomy, continence and menstrual care products become surplus across the UK due to changes in treatment, prescriptions, surgery, product preference or bereavement. Too often, these perfectly usable medical supplies are destroyed or sent to landfill.
At Footprints 2 Africa, we believe surplus shouldn’t mean waste. By giving surplus medical supplies a second life, we help reduce unnecessary waste and make better use of resources that have already been manufactured.Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond the supplies themselves. Wherever possible, we reuse donated cardboard boxes for packing and shipping, recycle excess packaging that cannot be reused, repurpose preloved suitcases to transport medical supplies with volunteers travelling to Africa, and share available container space with other organisations to make the best use of existing shipments.
By making the most of existing resources, we help reduce waste while supporting a more sustainable approach to humanitarian aid.
