Get Support
We connect donated ostomy supplies with communities and healthcare providers across Africa who need them most.
Our programme sends boxed mixed supplies sourced from generous donors in the UK directly to eligible recipients.
Footprints 2 Africa exists to make sure lifesaving stoma and medical supplies reach those who need them most. We work with registered charities, non-profit organisations and under resourced hospitals or clinics that care for people living with a stoma, helping them deliver dignity, comfort and hope to their patients.
If you represent an organisation in need of support, we can help you access essential supplies and practical guidance on safe handling and distribution. If you’re a member of the public, you can be part of this mission by donating unused stoma items, volunteering or spreading awareness. Together, we’re saving lives, one precious bag at a time.

What is an Ostomy?
An ostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening (called a stoma) in the body to allow the discharge of body waste (like stool or urine) when the usual route is damaged, diseased or removed.
There are three types of ostomies:
- Colostomy
- Ileostomy
- Urostomy
A stoma can be the difference between a life-threatening illness and a chance to live a full, active life.
Understanding a Stoma
When someone has serious problems with their bowel or bladder, doctors may create a new way for waste to leave the body. This small, neat opening on the tummy is called a stoma.
A stoma is made from a part of the intestine and allows waste to pass into a soft pouch that sticks gently to the skin. The pouch, or stoma bag, keeps everything clean, safe and hygienic so a person can live normally again.
Each stoma looks a little different — it’s unique to the person who has it. Some are temporary while the body heals; others are permanent and truly life-saving.
For many people, a stoma means freedom from pain, a second chance at life and the ability to live with comfort and dignity.
