Stoma Support Gloucester Group Visit

1–2 minutes

On the 7th November 2025, Footprints 2 Africa had the privilege of joining the Stoma Support Gloucestershire Group and what an inspiring morning it was.

We shared our mission to restore dignity and hope to ostomates across Africa, where thousands live without access to even the most basic ostomy supplies. We spoke about stigma, isolation and the silent struggles many face every day and how one simple act of kindness here in the UK can transform a life thousands of miles away.

Many people are shocked to learn that in parts of Africa, ostomates are discharged from hospital with no follow-up care or supplies. Some are forced to use bread bags, tins, or tape just to survive. Others live in isolation, terrified of leaks or rejection. That’s why every pouch we send is a lifeline.

Our talk also covered how Footprints 2 Africa was founded, registered, and the incredible impact we’ve made to date, collecting surplus stoma supplies nationwide and delivering them safely and ethically to under-resourced hospitals and verified stoma networks across Africa.

A heartfelt thank you to Julie, who runs the Stoma Support Gloucestershire Group, and to every incredible ostomate who welcomed us with warmth, honesty, and generosity. Their compassion will travel far. We didn’t come empty handed – we came with cake and compassion and they gave what mattered most – hope in the form of supplies.

If you’re in the Gloucestershire area and would like to join this amazing group, please contact Julie on 07979 129001.

Because every donated bag means someone, somewhere, can live with dignity again.
